Urine Drug Test Kit includes all items needed for performing a urine drug test. Most rapid testing kits produce a positive result in only a few minutes to five hours. They use a patented competitive immunoassays where different medications of abuse compete with the conjugated residue on the analyte test strips. Urine drug test kits employ a recently developed technique called dry chemistry. This technique renders accurate and reliable results, even under rigorous laboratory conditions.
A simple laboratory technique, the collection of sample vials of the subjects' normal urine shows levels of Butanol, Glycolic acid and N-acetyl-d Glucosamine. The collection vials are placed in a thermoset collection cup under controlled temperature and flown to the Analytical Core, where temperature and pressure are adjusted to exacting standards. The temperature and pressure are also held constant for up to five minutes to allow for sample incubation at room temperature. The thermometer used is an APC-based thermometer with an accurate digital display.
The dip coating process allows technicians to recognize volatile substances in urine. The temperature and concentration gradient reveals the amount of Butanol, Glycolic acid and N-acetyl-d Glucosamine present in the urine. The lines appear green when concentrations are above the detection limit and appear red when below the detection limit. In some cases, a small dark line appears at the bottom of the cup when a high concentration is detected.
Urine drug testing kits for forensic analysis have also been adapted for non forensic uses. Blood samples, hair and saliva samples from criminal offenders are some such sources. In these cases, the analytical methodologies are almost the same for urine drug testing kits. The most common analytical technique employed is HPLC-based metabolite detection. This method involves using tandem mass spectrometry to identify and quantify analytes. Some of the commonly detected analytes are amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, heroin, methamphetamines, opioids, steroids, hallucinogens, inhalants, and drugs of abuse ( heroine, opium and barbiturates).
Immunoassays are sensitive tests that can detect and measure immunoantiquines, immunoglobulin and other antigens commonly found in drug use and drug abusers. In immunoassays, antibodies are introduced into the subject through intravenous injection. When the antibodies interact with the antigens, they generate a color change as they settle in the sample. These color changes can be compared with results obtained by using the standard curve immunoassays. Due to the various laboratories that perform immunoassays and their methods, false positives are rare.
Most accurate results are achieved when the first few urine samples are collected. For example, a standard urine drug test kit should only require two collections of urine samples in order to achieve statistically significant results. Samples more than two days old will not yield consistent results and are not considered reliable for analysis. It is important that all collection be done in the proper setting and under the proper surveillance of medical personnel. Sampling procedures and post-imbursement guidelines should be carefully reviewed and the proper specimen collection methods should be employed.
Urine Panel Drug Test results are normally achieved within five minutes after the initial wash. The test panel usually requires two strips to obtain the final urine test results. The test strip should be placed in a small disposable cup to collect the first strip in five minutes. Urine collection kits normally come with a collection strip and meter. The meter can be used to indicate the exact collection site (site A or B) and is used most frequently for pre-test trials.
The entire process, including collection, analysis and interpretation of the results is completed within ten minutes, much shorter than the incubation period of a blood draw. The analyzer utilizes a computerized system that automatically adjusts the concentration of drugs throughout the analysis process. A urine sample is then drawn from the individual's private genital area and analyzed using a fully automated machine. This procedure is highly accurate and reliable, especially for routine or frequent drug testing.
