A pressure gauge (or some call it a pressure transmitter) is a device that measures the pressure of an air stream. Pressure Transmitter or PS Gauge can either be electronic or mechanical. They can also display the pressure of the water in different parts of the tanks. Pressure gauge is also used for the control of the shut off valves in the various appliances.
Pressure Transmitter: This device works with a solenoid or diaphragm that releases pressure when the pressure gauge changes. The pressure gauge shows the results of the pressure change by showing visual indications or by displaying symbols on the screen. To test the device with a hand operated pressure gauge tester, ensure that the water tank is empty.
Turn on the pressure gauge and leave it for few seconds to let the pressure gauge get warm. Once the gauge gets warm, it is ready to use. Insert the insertion probe of the pressure tester into the tank of the appliance that you want to check. Release the bulb of the tester when there is no leakage in the heater core or in the expansion vessel of the appliance.
Slowly pull the plug of the electric connection of the accessory and slowly remove it. You need to do this carefully so that you don't pull any part of the electric cable. Pull the plug out slowly until the pressure tester starts leaking. If there is any leak, you have to replace the accessory but if there is no leakage at the same time, then the problem can be with the coolant level. If the leak is not a result of the coolant, replace the heater core.
To perform the radiator pressure test, turn the thermostat of the heating element on. After it has been turned on for a period of time, you need to place the cooling reservoir close to the thermostat and slowly open the valve of the cooling water. If there is a leak in the system, the cooling water will be vaporized as soon as the valve is opened. The temperature of the vapor will be indicated in the reading that you are going to read.
There are some types of radiator that have a screw thread instead of the threading on the end of the valve. For these systems, you can remove the mounting screws and place the tester on the threaded portion. Turn the screw counterclockwise. In case of systems with the valve already threaded, you need to turn the screw clockwise. Before you release the mounting screws, make sure you lubricate the threads with silicone spray.
If the leak is located inside the engine compartment, you need to replace the radiator cap. You can perform this inspection by placing the pressure tester in the engine compartment. If you find leaks, you need to change the coolant and replace the radiator cap. However, if you find no leaks, you can wait for a while before performing the next step.
The last step is to locate the valve to determine if the valve is already worn out. You need to look inside the valve for signs of corrosion. Once you find signs of corrosion, you need to replace the radiator cap. On the other hand, if the pressure inside slowly remove the pressure tester. However, you should consider replacing the cap before you perform the following steps because it is important to install a new radiator cap before testing the system again.
You can test the cooling system by using the pressure tester. To test the oil cooling system, you should open the fuel tank and turn on the engine. In addition, you need to turn on the engine several times and observe the level of air that flows into the radiator.
If the readings are showing low levels, you may need to replace some of the parts. For example, check the radiator hoses for leaks. You can also replace the radiator cap. If you do not know how to repair the radiator, you can get help from affiliated company or reputable mechanic. On the other hand, if you find out that the problems are caused by worn-out parts, you can use the pressure tester kit as the last solution.
The coolant pressure tester kit is an inexpensive way to troubleshoot the motor. Moreover, you can use it anytime you need to troubleshoot your radiator caps. The pressure gauge will tell you if you need to replace some of the parts or not. Before you purchase a pressure tester, you should remember to check whether there are any signs of leakage in the coolant reservoir. Leaks should be repaired before you replace the parts.
