The perfume testers are very small plastic containers of perfume put at or near the location of perfume inventory in a retail store. When customers smell the fragrance and like it, they can buy a bottle of the same fragrance, or if they prefer, they may buy more than one bottle. Retailers call these testers "testers" or "moisturizers." In recent years, most large retailers have eliminated these testers from their stores and replaced them with walk in perfume departments. Perfume manufacturers have also found new markets by offering these perfume testers free with certain fragrance purchases.
Perfume testers come in two types: wet and dry. A dry perfume tester bottle is like a large wine bottle without a neck or cap. It has an opening on one side that seals when the cap is pulled off. The perfume is poured into the opening and then the seal is held for a few seconds so that the liquid can evaporate into the air. A wet perfume tester bottle has a wick, a wad of paper or fabric, and a bottle with a pump that opens by pulling a string. When the liquid passes through the wick it becomes heavier, which means that the fragrance is dispersed over a wider area.
Many perfumes contain fragrance oils that cannot be purchased in standard perfume tester bottles. Some of these oils include eucalyptus, lavender, bergamot, jasmine, cedarwood, orange blossom and thyme. Several manufacturers make customized blends for customers who have fragrance allergies, but some perfume manufacturers still make standard fragrance testers for these customers. These testers vary in size and shape and some are made of clear plastic with a chrome-plated brass lever. Most testers are attached to a cloth line that extends from the back of the tester to the base of the bottle. Some fragrances, such as cedar, are heavy, so they need to have a bigger cloth line than other scents.
You might think that buying perfume testers from a company that sells authentic scents is an unsafe purchase because you do not know whether the fragrance contains a chemical or not. In fact, some fragrance testers have been known to test fake perfumes and create an allergic reaction in some people. Perfume manufacturers have a strict code of conducts to prevent the use of counterfeit fragrances. Therefore, if you buy a perfume tester that is not made by a reputable company, you are taking a risk. However, you can get information about the fragrance and make sure that it is not a fake. If you feel uneasy about any product, do not use it.
You may find that the perfumes in your local stores are being sold by inexperienced employees who do not know much about the brand. They will usually sell them at very cheap prices, because they do not have much experience in handling original perfumes. You can avoid this kind of sales person by asking a friend or family member where they bought their perfume testers. It is also possible that the store has cheap Perfume testers in their stock that they do not want you to see.
You can buy perfume testers from online retail stores, which have better packaging than their local counterparts. The bottles are also not handled by inexperienced employees, so they are safe to use. However, you should still ask your retailer about the quality of the packaging before purchasing.
A lot of perfume testers now come with their own complimentary fragrance. Some manufacturers offer free samples when you buy one of their testers, so you can test for any scent with confidence before buying the real thing. The packaging can range from cheap and not too presentable to a little expensive but with a lot more bling! A cheaper perfume tester may come with the same fragrance as a more expensive one, but if it does not say so on the label then you might be able to get it for a lower price.
If you are buying your testers from online stores, it pays to read the labels carefully, so that you know what ingredients are inside them. The cheaper perfume testers contain mainly fragrance oils, whereas the more expensive ones contain essential oils. Perfume liquid testers contain mostly synthetic fragrances; if you are planning to wear the product in the long term, it is advisable to buy ones with a better scent, so that you can maintain your fragrance over a longer period. Perfume lovers everywhere know that a great perfume can make the wearer feel confident and attractive, regardless of the occasion.
