Buyer's Guide: Ovulation Test Strips

Ovulation Test Strips - How Can Ovulation Test Strips Help Me Conceive?

Ovulation Test Strips are designed for women to accurately detect abnormal levels of luteinising hormone (LH), a hormone that is released in the woman's body a few days before ovulation. This hormone is also known as human luteinizing hormone or HLL. While ovulation test strips may successfully determine your most fertile times, they often are not 100 percent reliable. They may only detect hormonal changes that occur after your period.

The problem with using ovulation test strips to predict when you will become pregnant is that they rely on the woman's self-reporting of whether or not she is experiencing ovulation symptoms. While many women accurately report their symptoms on an weekly basis, others may be more accurately able to report symptoms only during one specific cycle, such as their menstrual cycle. In addition, these tests do not distinguish between signs of ovulation and those that occur prior to ovulation. So, while a positive result may indicate that you are most fertile, a negative result could mean that you have yet to experience the symptoms of ovulation. This could potentially lead a woman to conceive at a time when she is less likely to so.

There are a number of medical conditions that can cause women to incorrectly report their symptoms of fertility. The most common of these is an endometriosis condition, which can interfere with cervical fluid production and increase the possibility of having an ovarian cyst. Many women with this condition have irregular periods or have very light flow of blood. To account for these irregularities, ovulation test strips may incorrectly detect an elevated level of hormones. If levels of progesterone and estrogen are elevated, it is a good indicator that you are ovulating.

Another common cause of false negatives is urinary tract infections. When bacteria invades your body and travels into your fallopian tubes, they can attach to egg cells. An increase in bacteria can also increase the chances of having an ovarian cyst. Therefore, an increase in urinary tract infections, especially with the use of antibiotic medications can also result in an inaccurate determination of ovulation.

Many women wrongly assume that their PCOS is related to an imbalance in insulin and progesterone levels, when in reality it is related to luteinizing hormone levels. Luteinizing hormone levels rise as the woman's monthly cycles progress, but can peak immediately after ovulation and decrease thereafter. This allows the luteinizing hormone to work overtime, causing an increased production of the female sex hormones estrogen and progesterone. However, the only way to correctly detect ovulation is to obtain the results from one of the ovulation tests available.

Most accurate methods for detecting ovulation require a woman to track her menstrual cycle for a minimum of three months. Tracking her cycle will allow a woman to record each of her fertile days. For each of those days, she should collect a urine sample in advance. She should then combine the data from those days with the information from her previous period to determine her most fertile days. If the result from the ovulation test strips or ovulation hormone pone levels are correct, then there is a very good chance that she is actually ovulating. Alternatively, if she is not ovulating but is producing very active and fertile cervical fluid, then she may just be producing very weak cervical fluid.

Ovulation Test Strips can be used correctly to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. An ectopic pregnancy is a condition where an egg has implanted outside of the uterus, usually in the fallopian tubes. These types of pregnancies often require extensive surgery to repair the damage to the reproductive organs. However, an ectopic pregnancy may sometimes be present and cannot be easily identified by conventional tests. Ovulation Test Strips can be used to help determine if an ectopic pregnancy is present.

The accuracy of Ovulation Test Strips depends upon the woman's menstrual cycle and other factors such as weight gain, medications and stress. When using Ovulation Test Strips correctly, they should be used in conjunction with regular basal body temperature measurements and other fertility tests as well. It is always important to talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns about your reproductive health.
