Buyer's Guide: Marijuana Urine Test

Marijuana Urine Test

Marijuana urine testing refers to various drug testing methodologies utilized for the illicit use of marijuana in everyday life, sports, and legal matters. Marijuana use is very highly detectable by urinalysis, blood test, hair testing, and saliva testing for several days or even weeks. To date, this test is the most preferred drug test to screen for the presence of marijuana in a drug test. The urine test specifically draws out the active ingredient of the marijuana, THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), from the blood stream through the urine. The blood test typically draws out the drug PSA (procyclidine) from the blood stream.

While urinalysis and blood tests are the more prevalent urine tests that are used in a marijuana drug test, recent advances have produced new alternative urine drug testing technologies and products which may prove to be a more accurate method for screening for marijuana. Urine drug testing can detect the amount of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary active ingredient of marijuana, in the blood stream. The newer technology is able to measure the level of THC even in people who completely avoid smoking marijuana, and without having to use any other method to confirm their absence of usage.

A urine drug test can also be used to confirm the presence of marijuana in a person who has been using the drug but appears to be in fine health. With the advances in recent years, sophisticated technology is becoming available to measure the concentration of THMs in the urine. Currently, the only approved means to determine whether a person has smoked cannabis is by performing a hair test. However, a hair test cannot be used to confirm the existence of marijuana use in those who are under the influence of another substance at the time of testing. There have been some concerns over the years about the accuracy of this test, but new research has determined that it is accurate enough to confirm marijuana use when necessary.

Another type of alternative urine drug testing technology involves the analysis of breath samples. When a person has a blood or urine drug test performed, there is no way to determine whether the substance was present in the system at the time the test was performed. If you have a lawful requirement to obtain a breath sample as evidence in a court case, a drug analyzer can be utilized to determine whether the subject is under the influence of drugs at the time of testing. This option is often preferable to urine testing because the results are less likely to be confused with alcohol.

There are many potential legal uses for this type of test. If you are looking for an individual who has failed several tests for drugs or if you suspect your child is under the influence of marijuana, you may want to perform a marijuana urine test to confirm suspicions. It is important to remember that the results of this type of test are not considered proof in any way. It is far more important for you to have a reasonable suspicion than to simply depend on the word of police officers or judicial officers. In the case of a criminal case, a conviction can often be swayed by the existence of a marijuana urine test.

Many people also choose to perform a Marijuana Urine Test at home in an effort to self-test for any possible marijuana use. Unfortunately, even though many states have established procedures for compulsory testing, it is usually advisable to consult a professional lawyer before having any such test performed. Many people falsely believe that the consumption of small amounts of pot is not considered illegal, and it is not until large quantities of the drug are consumed that serious side effects occur. Because of this fact, a knowledgeable lawyer should be consulted to determine whether there are any probable defenses to the charges against the suspected marijuana users.

It must be noted that in the case of serious consumption of a controlled substance as with consuming marijuana or any other controlled substance, the defendant may very well be charged with the entire offense regardless of whether they actually are guilty of using marijuana. This is often the result of police officers making snap judgments about what is considered to be appropriate drug consumption based on a person's appearance or behavior at the time. Even if police are unable to arrest a person for drunk driving or marijuana possession without evidence that the substance was actually consumed, it is entirely possible that they could be able to make a case against a person under the argument that they are using marijuana even though they are not actually doing so. Such a charge would essentially be an added penalty for breaking the law, and therefore would justify a Marijuana Urine Test even though the person has not actually been arrested for breaking the law.

In short, a Marijuana Urine Test can provide a reliable method for law enforcement officials to detect the presence of marijuana use. It is important, however, that anyone who is a potential suspect in a pending investigation or any criminal case realize that even if police determine that one is not guilty of using marijuana, they may still make an arrest based on suspicion alone. Because much of the substance remains after use, police will often wish to have a urine or blood test performed as part of their investigation. Unless there is clear proof of intent, a person who is under investigation will likely be asked to submit to a Marijuana Urine Test at some point during the course of their criminal proceedings.
