Buyer's Guide: Leaky Gut Test

How The Leaky Gut Syndrome Test Works

The standard historical test of increased intestinal permeability (a leaky gut) has always involved a lengthy six hour oral glucose-fasting urine sample. Unfortunately, another test measures a relatively new protein in your blood, called zona vivax, to identify whether you have leaky gut or not. Zona vivax, which is made up of a combination of amino acids, does not normally cause a reaction in healthy individuals. Nevertheless, this new blood test does cause a significant change in healthy individuals. If you're curious about why this is so, I will give you my answer in a moment.

When your blood sample is drawn, the doctor runs it through a machine that creates a highly sensitive protein detection test called a blotting test. If the glucose level in your blood sample is under diabetic conditions, the blotting test will show a certain quantity of a particular fluorescent dye. If the same blood sample shows a high level of fructose, a different set of fluorescent dyes will be generated. Your doctor can use these data to confirm your leaky gut condition. He also might test your uric acid levels as well, but he does not need to unless you specifically request it, since you are already diabetic.

The reason this test works so well is because of the way it works to identify immune system related problems. All cells in your body, including intestinal cells in your blood require an adequate amount of nutrients to function properly. If your body does not get enough nutrients, everything breaks down. You start getting infections, you experience delayed healing, and a wide variety of other things begin to happen. These immune related leaks in your gut can contribute to a number of autoimmune disorders, including leaky gut.

The Leaky gut test works best with a couple of common substances. One of these substances is mannitol. Mannitol has been found to actively decrease the amount of bacteria in your GI tract, which keeps it healthier. It also keeps the bad bacteria from building up, which is what is causing the leaky gut symptoms in the first place.

A second substance that is essential for proper digestion is called zonulin. Zonulin acts as a molecular glue that helps your intestine hang together, preventing it from leaking out waste materials. A zinc and mannitol combination can make your intestinal barrier function correctly, which means that any of the leaky problems will be less likely to occur.

These two key features to consider when considering using the Leaky Gut Test in your diagnosis process. Since you have two of the ingredients, you have two chances to get it right. You could either find something that works well, or you could fail horribly. However, if you don't take a look at the main ingredients, you might miss the chance to improve your health.

If you are having any kind of chronic problems with leaky gut symptoms, it's important to make sure that you know which problems you're dealing with. Chronic diarrhea and constipation are common symptoms of dysbiosis. Other systemic conditions that can cause similar symptoms include Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, and diverticulitis. When you consider potential systemic disease causes, you'll probably want to start looking at your diet. Your diet has a big influence on your overall health.

If you're trying to improve your health, you should definitely consider the Leaky Gut Syndrome test as a way to help you out. It can lead to an overall improvement in your digestive health. It's a great way to ensure that your body is able to properly digest and absorb all of the nutrients that it needs. If you have a serious problem, though, you may want to consider inflammatory bowel disease or ulcerative colitis for more information.
